1. My PC finally went to the dogs after 4 years of over usage and abuse. I, therefore, invested about a week into putting something new together, equally hardware and software wise.
2. So my self-determined academic year starts this coming Monday (as opposed to this past Monday)
3. Quite frankly so much time has passed since my last update that I’m having a hard time making sense of all that happened the last month.
4. Guten Tag exhibition turned out to be a pretty big highlight of 2011 so far! So much fun. (Kudos to Word of Art Gallery)
5. My tomato plants scaled down a bit in craziness (read: colonizing over the rest of the garden) and actually started doing something useful – growing actual tomatoes.
The bulldog clips are slowly rusting away from standing in the rain for a couple of months – probably because they were made for art galleries, not backyard farming endeavours.
2. very tired at the gallery on Wednesday. Made some rad drawings on the train. Might ink one of them up if i have some free time.
3. Worked some more on the structure of my thesis.
4. I fashioned a real life rotkop, but whatever plastic mechanism made him squeak when you squeezed him eventual broke after continues abuse for about a week (much to the relief of my family members). I think I might set him free, considering gluing him on top of a streetlight, especially now since the streets are so empty this time of year.
5. Got some rad photos from the Tygerburger local newspaper. Really dig the visual language of street marches.
1. Went along with my mom to a Christmas party in Belhar block 23 – one of the most run down areas in the cape flats. Where I met Veronica, who runs a soup kitchen from her house during the week. In all honesty, I got emotional just listening to her speaking to the children.
I think to date I haven’t met anyone as passionate about loving her community as Veronica. Her story stirred something transcending in me. I can not overstate how much just talking and listening to her for an hour inspired me.
2. Collected some rad visuals. One is from an old book i found in the garage, the other is a picture accompanying an article in Die Burger. 
3. I spent some time structuring all my thesis data in a coherent narrative.
3. Played around with some large scale brush lettering on my walls and windows outside. (Dont ask me what the words mean, they are either just random letters that I wrote in sequence or they were random words that I saw/heard somewhere else at that moment)
5. Did some smaller scale brush typography work too.
1. Went to Jeffrey’s Bay from Wednesday till Sunday. Found some badass rocks on the beach. (judging from the quality of the picture I seriously need to get some cash for a new scanner)
2. Forgot to mention in my previous update that my brother and me fooled around in Adobe After Effects for a bit Sunday a week ago. Check out his distro too.
1. Finished an initial prototype of my thesis’ Conceptual Framework (Problem Statement, Purpose Statement & Research Questions). Currently waiting for feedback- if it is deemed up to standard (or if not, once I get it up to standard) I will start with the actual physical writing. Personally very happy with it.
2. I’m actually pretty sad about the whole thing, since I’ve been reading and conceptualizing now for more than a year. I’ve become so accustomed to just considering and reconsidering things, that its scary to think its a point now where I have to commit to something concrete.
3. Worked at the gallery on Wednesday, did some koki and colouring pencil drawings on the train back and forth.
4. My small scale farming exploits have grossly exceeded my expectations. Its been about a month now and my tomato plants are totally dominating (can I underline that? yes.), to the point where i think its crushing my other plants. (Yes they are held upright by sticks and bull-dog clips, the same clips i used in my exhibition last year)
So I need to find some time during next week to move them to an actual piece of earth next to my room. I’m stoked at the idea of having a functional vegetable garden. With the extra space I think i’ll get something badass like a pumpkin. or potatoes.
